Company History

In 1992, after the acquisition of the lawn equipment manufacturer that they worked for, five employees decided that they could build a better wood chipper for a better price.

Taking their experience and their dreams, they set out on their own. Together they developed a wood chipper that would become the cornerstone of their company “The Patriot Company”.

Armed with a quality product at a fair price and an aggressive marketing campaign, Patriot became a respected name in the lawn and garden industry. In just a few short years Patriot had sold in excess of 20,000 Chipper-Shredder-Vacs and Chipper-Blower-Vacs.

After a change in ownership in 2000 the company headquarters and manufacturing facilities were moved to their present location in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The company name was changed to Patriot Products, Inc.

In 2002, new president Keith Van De Laarschot decided to lead Patriot into a new era. Patriot would not only manufacture products but also began to retail its growing line of gardening products. The number of Patriot dealers grew to nearly 100 and the company web site was launched in 2003.

In 2005, Patriot introduced its line of string trimmers and numerous new accessories for its line of chippers. The ergonomic hand tools and a mini tiller were added to the products line in 2006.

Patriot's products are receiving increasing recognition throughout the lawn and gardening industry. In 2003 Consumer Digest Magazine named our electric chipper and lawn vac a "BEST BUYS". In that same year the National Home Gardening Club gave its Member Tested and Recommended Seal to our electric chipper. In 2005 the Patriot string trimmer also received the Gardening Club's Seal.

In 2006, the members of the National Home Gardening Club, the editors of Consumer Digest, and the Handy Man Club of America all completed hands on testing of our 10 hp chipper. Each independent group gave the Patriot 10F-CSV chipper its top honor. Also in 2006, the Patriot Mini Tiller received the National Home Gardening Club's Member Tested and Recommend Seal. Our mini tiller received an astounding 100% approval rating from the Gardening Club's members.
